Route History

Mount Meru, a dormant stratovolcano formed over 500,000 years ago, stands at 4,566m as Tanzania’s second-highest peak. A massive eruption 250,000 years ago reshaped its eastern flank, creating a dramatic crater. Revered by local Meru and Arusha communities, it holds deep spiritual significance.

The first recorded summit was in 1904 by German explorer Fritz Jaeger, guided by locals through treacherous ridges. The 5-day route is designed for climbers seeking a leisurely pace with an acclimatization hike to the crater, ensuring maximum comfort and a high success rate.

Why the 5-Day Route?

The 5-day Mount Meru trek is the ultimate choice for those who value comfort and immersion.
